The Colorado Medieval Festival was organized in support of a grander concept - the creation of an authentic replica of the European Middle Ages called Medieval World, USA. Medieval World, USA will be a permanent living history education center where the arts, crafts and knowledge of the Middle Ages will be practiced, preserved and passed on to visitors, who will be able to learn what it was like to live in the Middle Ages.
At the center of Medieval World, USA will be a 25-acre medieval village. As it would have been in any village of the period, the center of the village will be a church. Surrounding the church will be the village square, seven village greens, and a marketplace, where more than 120 craftsmen, artisans, and merchants will demonstrate their crafts and offer apprenticeships to others, helping to keep alive the arts of the medieval period that are slowly disappearing for lack of a living history locale to preserve them. Located on the village greens will be seven entertainment stages, each representing one of the seven Stages of Knighthood. During festivals, the stages will host acts, music, and other entertainments.
